Sikora Shatters PSCA Outlaw 10.5 Record

LAS VEGAS – Four-time Pacific Street Car Association champion Doug Sikora dropped a 6.507-second run last weekend at the Mickey Thompson West Coast Shootout Presented by Edelbrock at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway to break the MAGNAFUEL Outlaw 10.5 record.

The Apple Valley, Calif., native debuted a new combo in his Ford Mustang, a 499ci BAE with a 136mm F3R ProCharger, last month at the Lucas Oil Slick Mist Drags and broke the speed record with a 218.69 mph run.

“Doug has really raised the bar for every racer who competes with us,” PSCA President Mel Roth said. “He’s got his eyes on the prize and that’s the Street Car Super Nationals in a little more than a month. The best of the best are going to be there and it’s going to be a great show.”

PSCA’s Mickey Thompson West Coast Shootout Hits Vegas This Weekend

LAS VEGAS – Championships are on the line this weekend at the Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway as the Pacific Street Car Association’s Mickey Thompson West Coast Shootout Presented by Edelbrock takes to the track Friday-Sunday.

The PSCA, presented by Chris Alston’s Chassisworks, has provided some of the best drag racing in the country during the 2012 season and this weekend’s event should be no different. Several class championships are up for grabs, especially the Calvert Racing Street Muscle division where an astounding 12 drivers are still mathematically in the hunt for the title. Also appearing at the track this weekend is the Lucas Oil Car Show, open to fans Saturday and Sunday.

“It’s just been amazing what we’ve seen on the track this year,” PSCA President Mel Roth said. “To be this late in the season and still have these classes so tightly contested shows just how good the racing has been and how talented these racers are. It says a lot about the teams that they can compete at this level and give our fans they kind of racing they deserve.”

All of the PSCA’s 2011 champions will be recognized during an awards banquet Saturday following qualifying.

Edelbrock Re-Signs As PSCA Class Sponsor

For the tenth-consecutive season, Edelbrock, one of the most respected names in the automotive industry, is the title sponsor for the Pacific Street Car Association’s Hot Street class. The PSCA’s first event of 2012 is the Record Breaker Nationals, Feb. 17-19 at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"Proven Performance" is the philosophy that began with Vic Edelbrock Sr. in 1938 and it continues today with the same high standards of performance and quality. Vic Sr. would be proud of what has grown out of his small garage in Los Angeles.

In addition to the naming rights of the PSCA’s Hot Street division, Edelbrock will also post up to $125,000 in contingency awards. It is the 12th-straight year the company has been a contingency sponsor for the Las Vegas-based drag racing sanction.

“We are excited to continue our sponsorship of this exciting race series,” said Edelbrock’s VP of Sales and Marketing Steve Whipple. “Our partnership with the PSCA has allowed us the opportunity to get in front of racers and fans at a local level. We have also worked closely with PSCA racers over the years to assist us with developing and testing our race products on the track, just like Vic Sr. did back in the 1930s.”

“Edelbrock is synonymous with quality and performance in our sport and to have them come back for a tenth year as the title sponsor for our Hot Street class and 12th year as a marketing partner overall really gives us a lot of pride,” said PSCA President Mel Roth. “We know a company with Edelbrock’s reputation for proven performance doesn’t just lend their name to anyone and we plan to continue to promote their legacy in motorsports.”

Edelbrock has also committed to an eighth year as an associate and contingency sponsor for the Street Car Super Nationals, also hosted by The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
